Our mission is to SERVE those in our local community and internationally as a member of the International Lions Club. Our main areas of contribution include: vision, diabetes, cancer, hunger, and our environment.
We provide funding, donations, and services to those in need through our support of charities such as Leader Dogs for the Blind, Penrickton Center for Blind Children, Madonna’s Hearing program, Beaumont’s Silent Children program, Eversight, Project Kidsight, Lions of Michigan Foundation, Lions of Michigan All State Band, Lions Bear Lake Camp, Lions Hearing Center of Michigan, Youth Soccer League, Play Place Autism Center, Wigs for Kids, and Susie Q’s Kids.
We Have:
We collect and repurpose used eyeglasses and hearing aids to extend beyond our local community making a global difference. Donations are appreciated and accepted at our hall.
We have donations boxes located around town to collect funding for our initiatives and to sell mints supporting our “Mints for Veterans” initiative. We are committed to those who serve or served our country.
As a United Way 211 participant, we offer an array of assistance wherever possible to those in need in our community, another way we serve.
The Sterling Heights Lions Club was chartered November 9, 1970 from Lions International, grand opening celebration was January 16, 1971. Our gratitude to the Fraser Lions Club for sponsoring this group of Lions dedicated to serving the community. The Lions Club purchased an old farmhouse and barn on Canal Road. The club renovated the farmhouse, and it was the club’s home until 1996, when the farmhouse and the barn were torn down. The members built a new home and garage where today we have hosted numerous fundraisers and community projects to support the local community.
1. To create and foster a spirit of “generous consideration” among the peoples of the world through a study of the problems of international relationship.
2. To promote the theory and practice of the principles of good government and good citizenship.
3. To take an active interest in the civic, social and moral welfare of the community.
4. To unite the members in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.
5. To provide a forum for the full and free discussion of all matters of public interest. Partisan politics and sectarian religion alone are excluded.
6. To encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in business and professions. Provide that this club shall not hold out as one of its objects financial benefits to its members.
The charities we support have annual gatherings and support functions throughout the year for Lion members to learn more about their programs, to hear about the impact from individuals involved in operating the programs, and the individuals/families that are recipients of their care. We actively participate and collaborate with other service organizations and nonprofits to meet the needs of the community such as food drives, park cleanups, community engagements with youth and school groups, assisting with hosting events at our club and within the area.
The promotion of our eyeglass and hearing aid programs enable us to gather used eyeglasses and hearing aids to be repurposed. Our team tirelessly collects, cleans, sorts, packages, and ships our collections to our global Lions partners for distribution. Locally, we work with individuals requesting assistance to find partners willing to offer their services and products to those in need.
Our team collects items and creates Susie Q’s Kids comfort bags for kids on a monthly basis, we sponsor youth activities like local soccer league and boy scout troop meetings, we create care packages and cards for seniors and veterans, we participate in collecting socks and other items for local nonprofits, and helping kids with back-to-school supplies and holiday toys and needs. Our Lions Club is a mixture of men and women from young adults to senior citizens with different work and life experiences, and different levels of volunteerism that all come together to “better our community” under our motto “We Serve.”
We have engaging and informative meetings where we explore some of the needs of the community and the nonprofit causes we support. We come together collaboratively to make our community stronger and healthier through our initiatives to address the physical, emotional, social, and mental health of our peers and the community We Serve. We understand the notion “It’s OK to not be OK”, that “we all need a little help at times”, and “we can have fun doing it”.

Along with volunteering, we gather to socialize, to make life-long friendships, to support each other during the good times and those more challenging. We support each other and lift each other up in the spirit of camaraderie and living a life built on respect, trust, and ethical behavior.

Leo clubs are a youth organization of Lions Clubs International. Leo clubs encourage youths to develop leadership qualities by participating in social service activities. Leo club members are addressed as “Leos.”
“Leadership, Experience, Opportunity.” That’s what makes a Leo. Members of Leo clubs embody the best qualities of our incredible organization. They are devoted young people who realize the power of action.
Leo’s are a youth service club that focuses on leadership, experience, opportunity, philanthropy and giving back all with a dose of fun, laughter, and philosophy of “Kids Helping Kids”. They conduct various projects in the fields of health care, elders, children, disabled people, literacy and education, and self-development. Leos can raise funds by conducting fund-raising projects to learn about philanthropy and to utilize funds to complete projects use within the community.
Together, Leos and Lions form a powerful partnership — one of mutual respect where Lions learn from the innovative insights of Leos, and where Leos gain access to the proven strategies of those who’ve successfully served the world for decades.
